Trekking Information to Merapi Yogyakarta

Mount Merapi trekking is an experiencing active volcano on Java Island, Near Yogyakarta. It is a regular daily tour trekking program. And it is one of the fabulous hiking activities.

I just got back. Sorry for the late reply. Mount Merapi trekking summit is fantastic. It was a Hell of an experience and adventure. We Felt so good to be above clouds. Everything was okay till the very last part of our trek. Our guide led us on a shortcut up to the peak which was too dangerous and scary. I read in many travel blogs that the way to the peak is through a relatively flat slope. My friend almost cried. We didn’t expect to be going that way. There were many big rocks and great steepness. So afraid that the rocks would collapse or we would slip. The guide helped us very well.

In a way, we survived! Finally, we made it to the top in time to catch the beautiful Mount Merapi sunrise. Thank you for your great arrangement!

Mount Merapi Trekking Itinerary

Day 01: Jogjakarta Hotel – Drive to Mount Merapi Slopes – Selo Village

Picked up at your hotel lobby in Jogja by 9.30pm and direct transfer to Selo village the starting point of Merapi trekking, Arrived at Selo a hours before the trekking begin, briefing for SOP(standard Operational Procedures etc).

Day 02: Mount Merapi Trekking – Hotel/Train Station/Airport

01.00 am start to climbing up to the top, arrived to the summit (2960 meter above sea level) at sunrise at 05.00 am from where you can see the summits of volcanoes on its surrounding. Enjoying the views, photo hunting and return to Selo village. Approximately five-hours return walks through the rainforest of mount merapi, arrived Selo village, resting, simple breakfast and escorting you to Yogyakarta hotel or airport or train station. Trekking Mount Merapi Summary Approximately Time of Depart and arrive

Day 01

09.30 PM : Pick Up at Jogja Airport or at your hotel
10.00 PM : Leaving from jogja to Selo Villages for Merapi Trek
00.00 AM : Arrive at Selo Villages and Brefing for about 1 hour before Trekking.

Day 02

01.00 AM : Starting for midnight trekking to peak of Merapi Mountain (Puncak ‘Garuda”) accompanied by
professional guide. Trekking to reach the top of this mountain is about 4 hours on foot
05.00 AM : Arrive at the top of Merapi “Puncak Garuda” and enjoy the sunrise view while having breakfast (pancake) at Puncak Garuda
06.00 AM : Start for descending the mountain
10.00 AM : Arrive in Sello Village, resting, simple breakfast
11.00 AM : Transfer to Jogja Airport or to your hotel.
