Orangutan Tanjung Puting Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Pangkalan Bun Airport – Kumai – Tanjung Harapan Tour

Upon arrival at Pangkalan Bun Airport, you will be met by our tour guide, have a short briefing, and transfer directly to Kumai by taxi. Then we will board a traditional wooden boat called Klotok up the Seikonyer River to Tanjung Harapan. After making a report to the Tanjung Harapan Post in the afternoon, we will visit Tanjung Harapan Camp. We will walk to the feeding station expecting the orangutans to come to the feeding platform. Then we will cruise up the river to see the proboscis monkeys, and birds and stay overnight on the river bank.

Accommodation: Wooden boat/Klotok.

Day 2: Pondok Tangguy – Orangutan Tanjung Puting Tour – Nipah Palm Area

After jungle breakfast at 7.00 am on the boat. The engine is turned on with a steady rhythm sound Tok Tok Tok. This is why local people called Klotok. Then, we will cruise up the Seikonyer River for an hour to Pondok Tangguy. It is the second rehabilitation center for orphaned baby orangutans. Therefore, we will walk to the forest for 45 minutes to the feeding platform. Where the baby orangutans are given additional food. Here, we can enjoy the view and take some time to soak in the atmosphere. Sometimes you can see semi-wild orangutans coming to the feeding station for additional food or to see other Borneo creatures. Enjoy your eyes here.

After that, we will return to the boat. And then cruise up for 2 hours to the oldest camp in Tanjung Puting National Park, Camp Leakey. On arrival, we will explore the surrounding camp. Also, visit the Information Center. And perhaps to see the King of Orangutan, named Terry (Terry is the younger brother of Camp Leakey’s previous dominant male Tom). Lunch time back to the boat and take a rest. And in the afternoon about 2.30 pm, we are going to witness another feeding of the orangutans.

After feeling enough, back to the boat, then we cruise down the river to the Nipah Palm area. Along the way, you will see many long nose monkeys and birds. Hot Coffee/Tea is provided while boating down the river. Thus, at night, we will have a nice romantic dinner on the boat surrounded by millions of fireflies. Day 3: Nipah Palm Area – Kumai Town – Pangkalan Bun Airport

After a hearty breakfast, enjoy the last morning at the boat before proceeding to the Pangkalan Bun Airport. Then we will cruise to Kumai and depart via Pangkalan Bun Airport. Tour ends.
